Alaska
HCBS Strategies has been working with the Alaska Senior and Disabilities Services (SDS) Division since 2006. This work has included:
- Developing the Long-Term Care Plan that has been used to guide the systems improvements across multiple administrations
- Conducting a feasibility study of and helping to develop the infrastructure for implementing their Community First Choice (CFC) Option
- Developing and assisting in implementation of a 1915(c) HCBS Waiver targeting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with less intensive needs
- Helping to build and refine a network of Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC) and Developmental Disability Resource Connections (DDRCs) across the state
- Developing infrastructure for a No Wrong Door (NWD) network and expanding Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) for sustainably financing NWD
- Incorporating interRAI instruments into assessment and support planning processes for Medicaid waiver and State plan personal care services to improve the efficiency and equity of the supports
HCBS Strategies has also had a contract with the Alaska Mental Health Trust (AMHT) since 2015 that has funded much of the work with SDS and other initiatives, including developing recommendations for the Alaska Dementia Collaborative, the Department of Public Assistance (DPA), and webinars for the broader stakeholder community.
SDS is also participating in Enhancing interRAI.
